The Industrial Employment (Standing Order) Act, 1946

Object:

To define the conditions of recruitment, discharge, disciplinary action, holiday, leaves etc.

Applicability & Obligation:

  • To every Industrial Establishment employing 50 or more workmen in Maharashtra and Gujarat State
  • To frame draft standing orders & submit them to certifying officer for certification within six months from the date of the applicability of the Act.
  • Once the Act is applicable, it continues to apply even if the no. of workmen falls below the statutory limit.

Eligibility:

  • To workmen doing manual or technical work, clerical or supervisory work and journalist in case of newspaper establishment.
